Holiday booking and working arrangements on New Year’s Eve.

Main Content

How much holiday do I need to use to book leave on New Year’s Eve?

New Year’s Eve is treated as a normal working day and therefore you need to book a full day for holiday booking purposes even if the Society chooses to allow branches and departments to finish early (say, from 3pm).

Am I entitled to take my full lunch break on New Year’s Eve if we’re finishing early?

Yes –  New Year’s Eve is treated as a normal working day and therefore you are entitled to take your normal lunch break entitlement. The decision to allow employees to leave early and enjoy New Year Eve celebrations is a gesture of goodwill by the Society but does not confer any entitlement to time-off or other changes to terms and conditions.
